School Board Schedules Facilities Workshop and Called Board Meeting Thursday, November 4-November 3, 2010 The Pickens County Board of Education will conduct a facilities workshop followed by a called board meeting on Thursday, November 4, at 5:00 p.m.  The board is expected to discuss real estate and SPLOST IV. These meetings will be held at the Board Conference Center on D.B. Carroll Street in Jasper.  As always, the public and employees are invited to attend.

Pickens County Schools announce the implementation of the AlertNow rapid communication service. -May 11, 2010 Pickens County Schools is pleased to announce the implementation of the AlertNow rapid communication service.  Using AlertNow, schools are able to deliver voice and e-mail messages at a rate of more than two million per hour.  Over the next six weeks, parents can expect one or two messages while the schools test the new system.  Messages will be short and to the point lasting between 20 and 50 seconds. The telephone numbers being called are generated from the contact information each school has on record for the student in Power School, the student information database.  Parents should ensure that the school has accurate contact information for their child.  If parents want to receive email notification, they are responsible for providing accurate email contact information to the school office.  E-mail messages will be delivered from NOREPLY@ALERTNOW.COM.

Graduation Bus Shuttle Service -May 7, 2010 Pickens County Schools will provide free bus shuttle service to and from the Pickens High School Graduation Ceremony this year. Buses will leave from and return to the parking lot at Chattahoochee Technical College and at Pickens County Middle School. Bus service will begin at 7:30 A.M. from each location and continue with departures every 15 minutes. The last shuttle bus will leave the parking lots at 8:45 A.M. on Saturday morning, May 22, 2010. Return service will begin 15 minutes after the ceremony ends and will continue with a departure every 15 minutes from the stadium area located at Pickens High School. The last shuttle will depart from Pickens High School 45 minutes after the ceremony ends. This service is offered free of charge to any person(s) attending the Graduation ceremony of the Class of 2010 at Pickens High School.
