WELCOME TO PICKENS COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM. To help make this transition a smooth one for students and their families, it is important that you are informed of the requirements for entering the Pickens County School System. These requirements are based on Georgia law and the Admissions and Enrollment Policy of the Pickens County Board of Education.
1. Students MUST reside in Pickens County (within our school district) with their parents or legal guardians and MUST notify the school any time there is a change in residency.
Due to board policy JBCB (Non-Resident Students - tuition $2,383.52) two pieces of evidence of "Proof of Residence" in our district MUST be submitted at time of registration from the following sources:
Current utility bill (showing street address in the name of the person registering the child), i.e. water bill, telephone bill, electrical bill, gas bill, etc. OR documentation from Pickens County Tax Assessors Office of Homestead exemption in the name of the person registering the child. If parent(s) or guardian can only provide one proof of residence, and/or have a post office box, please contact the Attendance Officer to verify the 911 address.
AND
Rent receipt, lease agreement, mortgage commitment, contract for residential purchase (showing closing date), OR Georgia Driver's License of parent or legal guardian registering child (MUST match information on utility bill from above proof of residence).
2. Students MUST have a withdrawal form and a certified copy of their birth certificate, with raised
seal. (If not available at time of registration, we will request from previous school.)
3. Students MUST have a Georgia Certificate of Immunization (DHR Form 3231), from the Pickens County Health Department or their physician. IF ENTERING A PUBLIC SCHOOL FOR THE FIRST TIME, FORM MUST BE PROVIDED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION. (If not available at time of registration, we will request from previous Georgia public school. If from out-of-state, information MUST be transferred by the Health Department or physician to Georgia Form 3231.)
4. Students MUST have Georgia Certificate of Eye, Ear, and Dental Examination (DHR
Form 3300). from the Pickens County Health Department or their physician(s). IF ENTERING A PUBLIC SCHOOL FOR THE FIRST TIME, FORM MUST BE PROVIDED AT TIME OF REGISTRATION. (If not available at time of registration, we will request from previous Georgia public school.)
5. Students shall present an official transcript of work or credit at time of registration from previous school (last report card and testing information, i.e., ITBS). If a transcript is not available at time of registration, the student will be enrolled on a tentative basis. If, upon receipt of an official transcript, it should be found that the student has been placed in the wrong grade or subject(s), the student will be placed appropriately.
Students coming from an accredited private school, home school program, other country, or other state, are accepted provisionally as indicated on enrollment form. Records of student's previous work are required before final placement is determined. If records are not received within 30 calendar days, an academic assessment will be made by the school to determine final placement.
STUDENTS WHO ARE UNDER DISCIPLINARY SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION IN ANOTHER SCHOOL WILL NOT BE ADMITTED.
6. An official copy of the child's Social Security card (original card) should be provided, which will be placed in the student's confidential records.
